The Enviro Kids group includes children from the ages of 8-16, all from the local Chinese community. The group was originally set up by BTCV through partnership with the Meridian Centre for Black and Minority Ethnic Communities in Glasgow. The group uses conservation as a way of involving the children in their environment. They participate in tree planting, guided walks, and tree identification classes. They are also given cameras and asked to take pictures that encapsulate what they think of as the environment and anything else they see that is interesting. This gives the children a sense of empowerment and responsibility, a direct involvement in the environment and a reason to ask themselves what 'the environment' is.

The children have a chance to see a different environment from their urban surroundings, and by making the activities conservation based, they are able to engage with the environment and to begin to feel ownership and a sense of belonging. The children also make social contacts, helping to inspire confidence.

This project predominantly consists of one ethnic group because they had already formed as a holiday club. However, like all the projects now developed, the emphasis is on integration with project days being open to all.
