There are approximately 1,400 members of the Travelling community in Northern Ireland. Surveys suggest they may be the most marginalised of the minority communities in the province. Conservation Volunteers Northern Ireland and the Belfast Travellers Support Group have worked to engage young people from the Travelling community in environmental activities. They have worked at the after schools facility at one of the Belfast Travellers sites and groups of young people have planted wildflowers, strawberries, herbs and vegetables.
