Wildflowers and grasses used to be abundant in the countryside amongst the cornfields and in meadows. Modern farming methods have eliminated many of these plants, while in our towns, most gardens and parks have uniformly cut grass. Wildlife requires diverse meadow vegetation where wildflowers, many of which are foodplants for insects, exist. In turn these attract many birds and animals to the habitat.
