These contain a variety of useful items like toilet rolls and sanitary towels and can be provided on projects although they are not a legal requirement. They must not contain drugs or any medication which could cause an adverse reaction and so aspirins, antihistamines and diarrhoea pills, for example, cannot be supplied but must be brought by individuals if thought necessary. Welfare kits are not covered by the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and care must be taken in their provision and use. See Appendix 3 for suggested contents.
