While it is impossible to predict at all accurately the composition of smoke from burning vegetation, bonfires or similar fires, it is a sure conclusion that any smoke will contain harmful particles and toxins. The basic rules are:

  • For health and environmental reasons, only burn materials when absolutely necessary.
  • Take steps to minimise exposure, e.g. stay upwind of fires.
