Getting and keeping in touch with other groups who do practical conservation work is well worth the effort. Your local BTCV office can put you in touch with other groups in your area who are members of BTCV, and who may be able to help with advice on first steps and useful local contacts.

As an established group, you might consider joint projects, combined training courses or the sharing of expensive or specialist equipment. In some areas, groups have got together to discuss such topics as biodiversity, or how to work with the council on local greenspaces.

Work together for the future of the planet.

Contact with the local group movement on a wider basis can bring benefits to most groups. Consider a link with a group in another part of the country with whom you might share information on a specialist aspect of your project.

You may even like to be more adventurous and set up a twinning arrangement with a group abroad. BTCV's international department or your local twinning committee may be able to help with this.

If you get the chance to go to conferences organised in your local area they can be a great way to meet groups too.
