The most important stage in creating your school's nature area may be completed before you even lift a spade. Planning the area well and communicating your plans clearly to others makes all the difference between success and failure. Outlined below is one process which could be followed to create your nature area. It is well worth surveying all the ground you have available to you even if at first sight one area seems the obvious choice for the garden. Practical problems may arise which prevent you working on that area and you may find that your grounds actually present more of a choice than is initially apparent.
The process is explained below and to illustrate it further we have used the imaginary 'Ballyblip School' which has a small piece of land suitable for a wildlife garden.
